New 2-D Mortal Kombat Game Announced

After this short film tease, the internet has been abuzz with rumors about the possibilities of a new Mortal Kombat movie or game. It seems that the hopes for a new MK movie will have to stay on hold for now but a new 2-D Mortal Kombat game is on its way. According to Warner Bros. has announced that a new classic 2-D MK game is in the works for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.   The game is set to release sometime in 2011 and will be using a new graphics engine to reinvent the classic 2-D fighting style. Warner Bros. has teamed up with the Chicago based developer NetherRealm Studios and original MK series creator Ed Boon for the project and are promising to bring back the classic 2-D fun and gore that fans have been calling for.

The game will include a new 4-player tag team mode, iconic characters and an extensive story line.
